Marlow Ropes is delighted to announce The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust as its latest corporate supporter and sustainable partner.

The high performance British rope-maker, has generously donated ropes and rigging gear for the pioneering cetacean research vessel, Silurian.  The Silurian, recently featured in  BBC’s Blue Planet Live,  travels thousands of miles every year off the west coast of Scotland to conduct ground-breaking research on whales, dolphins, porpoises and basking sharks.  

Operated by the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust based on the Isle of Mull, Scotland; Silurian’s findings are of global importance and contribute to the conservation and protection of UK cetaceans.

HWDT’s Boat Manager and Skipper, Emma Burgess said:

It ultimately helps us achieve our survey and research objectives to further our understanding and conservation of Scottish whales, dolphins and porpoises.”

This generous donation comes on the back of a winter of maintenance work onboard Silurian, including the full renewal of the standing rigging, that has ensured that Silurian is in excellent condition for the 2019 season.
