CANADA OCEAN RACING COMPLETES THE OCEAN RACE EUROPE: A MILESTONE FINISH 30 September 2025

Marlow Ropes is pleased to be celebrating Canada Ocean Racing – Team Be Water Positive as they complete the race with a positive attitude. The Ocean Race Europe spans six weeks and roughly 4,500 nautical miles, featuring multiple stages and stopovers that test the world’s best offshore sailors.

The course ran from Kiel, Germany to Boka Bay, Montenegro. Scott Shawyer’s Canada Ocean Racing, with Pip Hare steering Leg 5, finished 5th in the Final Scoring Race and 6th overall.

The team has shown great teamwork and perseverance especially towards the last leg where things became a little bit challenging.

This last leg was the toughest leg of The Ocean Race Europe. We knew it would be hard because it was so long, and these waters are so tricky, so we knew it would be a challenge. Unfortunately, we got left behind early in the leg when we had a few moments with no wind and we never really found an opportunity to come back into it, so it was not only a challenge from a sailing perspective but from a mental perspective as well.

Throughout the six weeks of racing, the team relied on Marlow Ropes’ high-performance lines to carry them through every stage.

Given the extreme loads that these modern foiling IMOCA class yachts see, it is peace of mind for the whole team for Canada Ocean Racing to partner with Marlow Ropes , a company and products that we all know and trust through years of use in application in some of the most intense sailing conditions. With The Ocean Race and the Vendée Globe in the race schedule, we look forward to continuing to work together towards these huge challenges.

Nick Moloney – Canada Ocean Racing CEO

We are wishing the team all the best as they now prepare for the Vendée Globe. The world’s premier solo, non-stop unassisted round-the-world sailing race.
