Marlow Ropes Official Supplier to ICSA

Marlow Ropes is excited to announce that it will again be the Official Rope Supplier to the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) through 2024. Except for a short interruption in the ICSA schedule due to the Covid pandemic, Marlow Ropes is proud to have held this status every year since 2014.

“The Intercollegiate Sailing Association is thrilled to announce Marlow Ropes as an Official Supplier,” said Mitch Brindley, President of ICSA. “The Marlow product line, particularly the MB 12 and 8 Plat Pre-stretch, has proven to stand up to the rigorous and repetitive demands of college sailing. Additionally, the direct-to-institution customer service of the Marlow Ropes’ US office aligns well with the tight budget needs of intercollegiate programs.”

Sam Vineyard, Marlow Ropes’ US Leisure Marine Sales Manager, explained the significance of being named an official supplier to the ICSA. “Collegiate sailing is an important aspect of our sport in the USA. Many college sailors go on to pursue Olympic campaigns and remain in the sport for their entire lives. We want to help them pursue their passion with the best rope available on the market.”

From youth sailing and collegiate programs to Olympic, performance cruising, Grand Prix, and America’s Cup, Marlow is involved in every level of sailing in the US and around the world. Vineyard went on to say that, in addition to developing talent and championing future athletes, engaging at the youth sailing level is important to Marlow Ropes from the standpoint of innovation. “Similar to gaining hands-on knowledge by working with the top sailing and racing teams in the world, interacting with the youth sailing community helps our technical team gain an understanding of how to better engineer products.”

Consistent with its goal to support sailors early in their careers, Marlow also sponsors several rising stars in key classes each year through its Youth Ambassador Program. In a sort of mentoring capacity, the company provides rigging assistance to help maximize performance and shares splicing techniques, rope care, and other technical knowledge with the young sailors.
