Plastic to Yarn

MARLOW’S MISSION TO REPURPOSE PLASTIC WASTE

The ocean covers over 70% of the planet and provides at least 50% of the planet’s oxygen. At Marlow we are taking responsibility for our impact on the ocean environment, and through the launch of our BLUE OCEAN range of ropes in the Leisure Marine and Arboriculture industries, we are reducing manufacturing reliance on virgin polyester across our polyester-based products by using high grade polyester made from a waste product.

Plastic to Yarn

The primary material in our GRS certified BLUE OCEAN yarn is waste plastic bottles which are collected across disposal units, preventing them from entering our oceans and ecosystems and causing further damage. Plastic pollution has one of the most detrimental effects on our oceans, causing plastics to collect in patches, leach into the water and affect plants and wildlife.

Since the start of 2021, we have produced over 75,000 metres of Blue Ocean yarn-based products, all made to a high specification with key attributes that ensures they live a long life and perform at their best to safely support a range of applications from tree climbing, forestry work, sailing and mooring a range of boats and vessels.

Choosing quality over quantity and looking after your high quality, high performing ropes is a big step you can make in being kinder to the environment and our oceans.
