Marlow hosts inaugural Rope-Show at Hayling Island Sailing Club

The first inaugural Marlow Rope-Show was held at Hayling Island Sailing Club took place on Wednesday 10th October.  We were delighted to welcome a very enthusiastic crowd who had lots of questions about the use Dyneema and moving away from the use of wire rope running rigging. Although this has mostly been adopted by all the professional teams and competitive racing crews, it is still a relatively new innovation in the world of grass roots sailing, yet one that is so beneficial for all types of sailors to know about due to its safer, lighter and stronger properties.

Almost 40 people took part in the splicing workshops, which resulted in a locked eye splice, with plenty of attendees taking home improved ropecare techniques, with one attendee commenting:

“I’ve been doing all the things to my rope that Marlow advise against! My ropes will thank me for having come to the Rope-Show tonight!”

Thank you to Hayling Island Sailing Club for hosting us and to P3 British Sailing Team 49er Nick Robins who led splicing workshops, along with our supporting riggers AllSpars and Hayling Island’s Sparkes Chandlery.
