Marlow Ropes launches Altair: a new high-visibility tree climbing rope built for smooth control

Marlow Ropes is launching Altair, a new 11.6 mm arborist tree climbing rope built for arborists seeking smooth handling, dependable performance and excellent compatibility with most mechanical climbing devices.

Marlow’s latest innovation: Altair arborist climbing rope

Lightweight yet durable, Altair features a supple 32-plait polyester cover construction that runs effortlessly through hardware, delivers exceptional control, and offers excellent grip. Altair combines very good UV and abrasion resistance with a refined balance of flexibility and strength.

The new rope stands out in the tree thanks to its bright, high-visibility colours (pink and purple), while simultaneously offering the strength, low elongation (2.4% to EN1891), and ease of use arborists require.

Altair is certified to CE EN 1891 and ANSI Z133, and is available in various lengths, each with a low-profile spliced eye with whip. Marlow Ropes has put Altair through its rigorous testing programme and exceeded required standards, boasting an average break load spliced of 21 kN and just 10.28 kg/100 m.

Altair’s key features:

  • Excellent mechanical device compatibility
  • Easy to handle
  • Supple
  • Easy to knot
