Our UK Headquarters is the home of our Product Development and Testing team, who put our products through the harshest of data-driven tests to ensure we not only meet all legal safety requirements but exceed them – whilst providing the most innovative and practical rope solutions. Quality and technical expertise are at the heart of our 200 year old business.

Detailed datasheets are available for every one of our products, helping you to ensure you have the exact rope performance specification required for your project, no matter where in the world that may be, no matter how high, how low, or how hostile the environment. Or, if the type of fibre rope assembly you require isn’t part of our currently manufactured range, our Sales Consultants and Product Development team will work with you to develop a customised solution to meet every one of your needs – from colour choice to termination choice, diameter, core material, breakload and everything in between.
Marlow ropes are made with a range of strong, lightweight core materials and coatings including HMPE, ArmourCoat, Dyneema and Technora and have been used in a variety of specialist assemblies, helping to ease the burden of maintenance and repair in renewables environments. For example, we recently provided D12 78 in place of wire for anode hangers; the improved strength and durability of this material, and its lighter weight has increased the life of the assembly, and improved the operative efficiency with more time between maintenance cycles.
We have also provided HMPE and polyester jackets for blade testing ropes, lessening the likelihood of complications with rope during repair. Our innovative products help construction and engineering outfits improve cost effectiveness across their projects. Using fibre rope in place of traditional materials such as steel can improve durability with less materials being used over time, and specifically using our Blue Ocean branded products made from recycled plastic, our natural HMPE and Bio-Based Dyneema can help your business achieve its sustainability goals.

MARLOW® D12

Given its strength to ratio properties, Marlow® D12 is the preferred rope used for Anode Hangers  within off-shore wind-energy turbine structures.  D12 is used for strops, lashing and purchase systems, and is manufactured from Dyneema® SK78 and HMPE (High Modulus Polyethylene). This forms a rope that is very lightweight yet very high strength; in fact, 6 x lighter than steel wire for a given strength, and 60% stronger than steel wire for a given diameter.

The lightweight and flexible structure of D12 eases the challenge of the installation process of anode hanger assemblies, particularly during retro-fitting projects. The specially formulated polyurethane coating of Marlow® D12 ropes offers increased abrasion resistance and durability throughout the life of the anode hanger. Specifically, Marlow® GripCoat improves core-cover adhesion, dirt and abrasive particle penetration and self-healing; Marlow® cool-coat enhances flexibility, reduces yarn-yarn abrasion and heat generation. Termination options for the D12 78 include spliced eye, grommet or Endless loop. Speak to us about customised lengths for bespoke projects.

OCEANUS SK78

 

Oceanus SK78 is designed for many commercial uses such as with traction or captive winches. Primary applications include winch-lines, lifting assemblies, escort and ocean towing, mooring and tethering/securing seismic array systems. Oceanus is a low-elongation, ‘jacketed’ rope, with a core manufactured from Dyneema® SK78 (core can be specified with either SK78 or SK99) and HMPE (High-Modulus Polyethylene), giving a weight 8 times lighter than steel for a given strength, and strength properties 70% stronger than steel for a given weight.

The 32-plait braided cover ‘jacket’ construction can be manufactured from polyester or HMPE, or other blended high-performance materials such as Technora®. The jacket protects the load-bearing core from dirt and abrasion, provides very good resistance to chemicals and UV, and prevents any water shrinkage. The lightweight construction makes Oceanus easy to manoeuvre and handle, and the rope does not sink when submerged.

SUPERLINE PES

Marlow® Superline PES is a “Jacketed” rope that is a lightweight alternative to steel wire that can be more durable in marine environments. Firm and round in profile, Superline PES has excellent drum spooling properties and can be used in a number of applications where larger ropes can be effectively handled and higher elongation is required. Increased elasticity helps reduce shock loads yet still offer complete control in towing situations. Ideal in sub-sea environments, it can be applied as winch line, mooring line (primary, temporary and transfer) towing springs, cable laying and maintenance, mooring springs, escort and towing lines.
Its high-tenacity continuous filament polyester core offers good resistance to chemicals and UV and zero water shrinkage. Superline is available in a choice of covers and special finishes to suit the application environment – such as Supermix with excellent heat management and abrasion resistance and high coefficient of friction. Marlow® Marine Finish is a fibre coating applied at yarn twisting stage, designed to increase fatigue performance. A filter fabric layer can also be added to prevent ingress of marine particulates. Our Sales Consultants can work closely with our product development team on your behalf to manufacture custom Marlow® Superline with specifications to meet your needs.
